How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which is placed on your computer's hard drive when you visit a website.  When you agree to this, a cookie helps to make your online shopping easier for you.  It does this by allowing our servers to read this small bit of information anytime you visit our site.  This helps us personalize your shopping experience.  For example, if you pick a particular model of classic car when searching for parts,  this information is placed on your hard drive.  When you next go to our site, your vehicle selection will still be there.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages and features you find useful and which you do not.  A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you.  You can choose to accept or decline cookies.  Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.  However, disabling cookies may prevent you from taking full advantage of the many features of our website.

JavaScript - Don't Disable It

JavaScript is one of the programming languages used to build web pages (it has nothing to do with the JAVA programming language).  JavaScript allows web programmers to incorporate logical parameters into their web pages so that many functions on a web page will perform in a similar way to how they would using standard desktop software.

Your browser gives you the option of turning JavaScript off.  This feature is a holdover from the days when land-lines ruled and baud rates were extremely slow.  Turning JavaScript off could mean faster web page load times.  Plus, there existed a few  vulnerabilities in some very early browsers in the mid-1990's that could be exploited using early versions of JavaScript.

Such vulnerabilities have long since been a thing of the past.  In fact, most of the technologies that were required back then to exploit these vulnerabilities don't even exist anymore.  Thus, it is perfectly safe to keep JavaScript enabled in your browser.  And of course, web page load times today seem almost instantaneous whether JavaScript is enabled or not, so turning JavaScript off serves no useful time-saving purpose.  Since it is safe to use and has negligible impact on browser performance, modern web page design makes extensive use of the language.  This includes many of the web pages on our site.

If you have JavaScript turned off, some features of our website will not work correctly, including the shopping cart when browsing our online catalogs.  If you seem to have trouble with our site (or many others) on a routine basis, please check your browser settings and make sure JavaScript is turned on.
